Connecting to your vehicle for the first time
If you have just received your diesel laptop and need help on how to use your diesel diagnostic laptop for the first time, then this is the page you need to read.
1. You need to connect your laptop to your truck and the laptop with the usb cable. Make sure your truck is turned on with the key in the ignition.
2. Select the correct program to use with your engine. Below explains which program (icon) you should use on depending on your vehicle.
J pro is universal and will work with all heavy duty semi truck engines and is very user friendly
For more direct programming you can use the original programs depending on your engine, transmission or brake system.
If there are 2 options available you can use either one
To use J pro connect to your truck or Diesel engine correctly via the usb link cable to the laptop and the adapter to the vehicle. Then click connect on the top, and you are good to go.
J pro will work with all engines but for the original dealer programs these are what you will need to use
Engines - (the icon you should click to setup)
Cummins - Cummins insite
Detroit Diesel- J pro or Detroit Diagnostic Link Blue icon for newer vehicles and the red and white for older (Works only with the 2023 setup)
Cat - Cat ET or J pro
Cat Off-Highway- Cat ET (Will need the Cat Comm III adapter)
Paccar- ESA or J pro
Isuzu- J pro or ISUZU
Mack- Use J pro
Hino - Hino DX or J pro
Volvo -J pro (If you want to use Techtool you will need the Volvo vocom adapter)
Maxxforce- NED Navistar, Servicemax or J pro
Ford- Ford IDS or J pro (Ford engines will require a VCM II adapter or DLA2.0)
International- NED or J pro
Toyota - Tech Stream
Mercedes Benz- Detroit Diagnostic Link or J pro
Transmissions
Eaton - Service Ranger or J pro
Allison- Allison Doc or J pro
Detroit Diesel - Detroit Diagnostic link (works with 2023 setup only) or J pro
Ford- J pro or Ford IDS (Will require a DLA2.0 adapter for J pro and VCM II for IDS)
GM- J pro (Will require green DLA2.0 Adapter)
Mack- J pro
Sprinter- J pro or Detroit Diesel Diagnostics
